We designed our twill barn jacket to be the workhorse layer you reach for every season. Built from heavyweight cotton canvas with a soft interior lining, this jacket delivers the structured fit of a classic chore coat with modern utility details that work.

Cotton canvas construction
We chose heavyweight cotton twill for this jacket because it breaks in beautifully without losing shape. The 10-ounce canvas shell resists wind and light rain while breathing enough for three-season wear. After a few washes, the fabric softens and molds to your frame without sagging at the elbows or shoulders.
The interior lining is a lightweight poly blend that slides easily over layered knits and keeps the jacket from clinging. We reinforced stress points at pocket corners and cuff edges with double-stitched bar tacks. Color options include Moss (deep olive-green), Navy (classic maritime blue), and Field Tan (warm khaki with subtle gray undertones).
Pocket layout & utility
Four front patch pockets give this jacket the utility DNA of vintage workwear. The upper two chest pockets are sized for a phone, wallet, or field notebook and close with metal shank buttons. Lower hand pockets sit at a natural resting angle and offer enough depth for gloves or a small water bottle.
All pocket flaps are reinforced with the same canvas as the shell, so they hold their shape even when loaded. We skipped interior pockets to keep the lining smooth and the silhouette clean. Button closures are matte black resin with four-hole shanks that won’t crack or fade over time.

Relaxed through the body
This jacket is cut with a relaxed fit through the chest and shoulders to layer comfortably over hoodies, chunky knits, or a fleece vest. The hem falls just below the hip, covering your belt line without riding up when you reach overhead. Sleeves are slightly longer than a standard blazer to accommodate rolled cuffs or gloves.
True to size
We recommend ordering your usual size for a comfortable layering fit. If you prefer a closer, more tailored silhouette, size down one. The adjustable cuffs let you fine-tune sleeve length, and the stand collar can be worn popped or folded depending on weather. For reference, our model wears a size medium and is 5’8″ with a 36″ chest.

This jacket has a relaxed fit through the chest and shoulders, designed for layering over sweaters or hoodies. It’s less tailored than a blazer and sits about an inch longer at the hem. The stand collar and adjustable cuffs give it a more casual, utilitarian silhouette. If you typically wear a medium blazer, a medium in this jacket will layer comfortably without feeling boxy.
The jacket provides moderate warmth suitable for fall and early spring on its own. For colder weather, we recommend layering it over a fleece or insulated vest. The cotton canvas blocks wind effectively, and the poly-blend lining adds a layer of insulation, but it’s not designed as a standalone winter coat in freezing climates.
The heavyweight cotton twill resists light mist and brief drizzle, but it’s not waterproof. The fabric will bead water initially, though extended exposure will soak through. For rainy days, we suggest a waterproof shell over the jacket or treating the canvas with a fabric protector spray.
Moss is a deep olive-green with earthy undertones, while Field Tan is a warm khaki with subtle gray notes. Both are neutral enough to pair with denim, chinos, or cargo pants. Navy is a classic maritime blue. All three colorways use the same dye process and hold color equally well through regular washing.
All four pockets close with metal shank buttons—no zippers. The button flaps keep contents secure during movement and maintain the jacket’s clean vintage workwear aesthetic. We reinforced the pocket corners with bar tacks to prevent tearing even when loaded.
Wash the jacket twice on a cold gentle cycle before wearing, then tumble dry on low heat. This accelerates the softening process without damaging the twill. You can also wear it around the house for a few days to let the fabric mold to your frame naturally. The canvas will develop a comfortable patina over the first month of regular use.
The jacket is pre-shrunk during manufacturing and experiences minimal shrinkage if you follow the care label. Wash cold and tumble dry on low to maintain the original fit. Avoid high heat, which can cause the cotton twill to tighten slightly in the chest and sleeves.
